The Jim Brockmire Video Returns

May 12, 2010 by SamM

Last week MLB took down a video which comedian Hank Azaria made for funnyordie because some of the footage in it lacked the “express written consent of Major League Baseball.” Azaria plays the legendary broadcaster Jim Brockmire, a man whose accomplishments have been relatively ignored by the baseball public but who has earned the respect and adoration of his colleagues in the broadcast business.

The content lasted all of a day online before the plug was pulled. The issue has been resolved and the Brockmire tribute can again be viewed.

The video takes us through Brockmire’s career along with laudatory commentary from Joe Buck, Dan Patrick and Rich Eisen. “Jim Brockmire was, hands down, the best ever,” Buck says.

There are many great Brockmire gems included in the four-minute video as well as a heart-rending account of the day the walls all came crashing down for this broadcasting titan.
