The 2010 BPL first-round matchups:
- (1) Philadelphia Phillies vs (8) Texas Rangers
- (4) Minnesota Twins vs (5) San Francisco Giants
- (3) New York Yankees vs (6) Atlanta Braves
- (2) Tampa Bay Rays vs (7) Cincinnati Reds
The thing that has to happen is to untether each of the minor league teams from the parent club. Otherwise, you could see that the Yankees could buy the Brooklyn Cyclones from the Mets, move them to AA and then stockpile better players on that team so that in a few years times, they’d be promoted.
That would be the worst case scenario. That the Steinbrenners of the world could possibly own two major league teams in their own market.
And…as I’ve stated earlier, the A league teams need to be used like the NFL and the NBA uses college hoops: They become the feeder league for all players to be drafted from.
And…revenue sharing needs to be strengthened, not weakened.
