Nails Gets Nailed

According to ESPN:

LOS ANGELES — Former New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Lenny Dykstra has been charged with embezzling from a bankruptcy estate.

Federal prosecutors in Los Angeles allege that after filing for bankruptcy in 2009, Dykstra hid, sold or destroyed more than $400,000 worth of items from his $18.5 million mansion in Ventura County. They ranged from sports memorabilia to a $50,000 sink.

Dykstra claimed he owed more than $31 million and had only $50,000 in assets.

I mean really…

When Lenny was playing ball, which future description of him would you have believed:

  1. that he had turned into a stock-picks guru, or
  2. that he hid, sold or destroyed more than $400,000 worth of items from his $18.5 million mansion in Ventura County?

I’d have picked number 2.

It’s no wonder our country hit the skids financially. If your choice for stock-picks guru was Lenny Dykstra, wouldn’t you have been better off putting your money in your mattress?

And here’s the thing:  Lenny filed bankruptcy forgoing $31M in debt and then did $400K worth of damage and theft?  That’s just plain scummy.
