The British media went wild this month with the Yankees World Series victory. Many writing about the Series for the UK press brought in the A-Rod connection:

“A season that started in turmoil ended in glory for the New York Yankees and their superstar hitter Alex Rodriguez,” wrote The Mirror.

“Alex Rodríguez comes full circle to help New York Yankees to World Series triumph,” read the headline in The Times.

The Sun remarks on Rodriguez’s “impressive form” during the post-season.

“Nine years without a championship may not seem like a long time for most sports franchises, but for the New York Yankees, it is an eternity,” typed The Guardian

And The Spectator brought in a political aspect to the win: “After eight long, gruelling years the Curse of Bush is finally lifted and the universe is once more on an even keel: the New York Yankees are World Series champions again. For the 27th* time. Hurrah!”
