Hooves on First FLUSHING, N.Y., August 30, 2012 – The New York Mets today announced they will partner with Seraphim12 Foundation on “Hooves on First” Night Monday, September 10 at Citi Field when the Mets host the Washington Nationals at 7:10 pm.  The fundraiser will raise awareness about the treatment of horses. Tickets are available at Mets.com/Horse and (718) 507-TIXX.

“Joey,” the life-size horse puppet from the Tony Award-winning play War Horse will be appearing pre-game on Mets Plaza and in-game during the seventh-inning stretch.  Seraphim12 Foundation’s horse ambassador, “Chip,” will also be greeting fans pre-game near Mets Plaza.  Chip often works with inner city and autistic children who have never seen or touched a horse before.

Rock icon, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Paul Rodgers (Free, Bad Company, The Firm), who also resurrected Queen, will be singing the National Anthem. A devoted advocate for horses, 100% of the proceeds of Paul Rodgers’ latest release, new song, “With Our Love,” which charted at No. 4 on rock radio, was earmarked to Seraphim12 Foundation and the UK-based Racehorse Sanctuary.  These proceeds have already paid for the rescue and extended care for five abused horses.

Rodgers shares, “Horses are such a powerful part of human development and have been since the early ages.  We humans owe them so much.  My wife Cynthia and I visited Seraphim 12, and can’t imagine any of these healthy vibrant beings being sent off to die.  Especially ‘Daisy,’ who was to be slaughtered for human consumption at four months of age!”

Each ticket purchased through Mets.com/Horse will raise money for Seraphim12 Foundation, which supports the advocacy for America’s horses.  Fans buying tickets through this offer will receive a “Hooves on First” t-shirt.

Seraphim12 Foundation is a 501(c)(3) Not-For-Profit dedicated to creating a sympathetic balance between horse and man.  They advocate for a shift in perception about the care and classification of the horse, so that all horses have a dignified life, final retirement and resting place.  Seraphim12 Foundation has a vision of humans helping horses, and horses helping humans. With their humane educational school and summer camp programs, they teach a new way of kindness, compassion and love for all animals, and each other, through the help and guidance of the horses.
