Hammer Moves Mobile Home
The City of Mobile (Ala.) and the Mobile BayBears have accepted an offer from Hank Aaron’s family to move the Hammer’s childhood home to the BayBears’ stadium.
The dwelling will be renovated into a museum featuring Hank Aaron’s family life leading to a stellar baseball career. The scheduling opening is April 2009.
Hank Aaron is best remembered for breaking Babe Ruth’s record of 714 home runs. Aaron ended his career with 755 HR, 3771 hits, and a .305 batting average. He still holds career records for RBI (2297), total bases (6856), and extra-base hits (1477).
