Bowl of NoodlesAll those who happen to be in the vicinity of Salem, Virginia on Friday, April 18 won’t want to miss the Salem Avalanche’s first annual “Salute to Ramen Noodles Night.”

The Class A Advanced affiliate of the Houston Astros will be marking the 60th anniversary of the college-student staple.

The Ramen-centered celebration was the brainchild of Giles Cochran who said, “I survived college on Ramen Noodles. I would have two packs of Top Ramen in one meal. Mmm. Very filling.”

The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a complimentary package of the great noodle which was originally created by Japanese-Taiwanese businessman Momofuko Ando, the founder of Nissan Foods, in 1948.

Proceeds will go to help local charity.
